When I go on a vacation, the first thing that I think about is the breathtaking view of the beach. Then what comes to mind is swimming in the ocean, collecting sea shells, the sand and everyone playing and laughing, mainly just having a good time. Not only that, but when I think about the beach I think about all the beauty that it has to offer, which is now under threat because of us. Due to human contact, sometimes our beaches are not as beautiful and peaceful as we like to believe and we are becoming blind to the issue, the concept of a clean beach is being eliminated from our status quo and dirty beaches are becoming normalized.

When I think about the beaches that I once knew as a beautiful getaway from home becoming filled with garbage, it begins to upset me. When I go on vacation, I like to enjoy all the natural things that the beach as to offer. The natural beauty that the ocean carries has been appealing to people for many generations and is a tourist attraction that people all over the world travel to experience. If the beach continues to have an increase of plastic debris it would change how I view an adventure to the beach. My viewpoint on what a beautiful beach is changing rapidly as anthropocentric interests are put at the forefront of economic growth, which is causing plastics to build up on our beaches. To ensure that that this nightmare does not become a reality, it is important that we act NOW and do our part to protect our beaches and the ocean. This comes from the proper use of recycling and ensuring that others do the same to by spreading the word about plastic pollution. The beach covered in plastic would be a terrible idea. So, lets act now and be the future! By: Nykell Jones
